So my goal until baby #2 arrives in May is to weekly document some of our plans for the week and also what we ended up doing for the week. Hoping to keep up with it! Last year at this time I started weekly themes (ABC's, #'s, farm animals, transportation, etc.) Riley loved doing all the fun activities I found on Pinterest. Once spring and summer arrived, I stopped having our weekly themes because we were too busy enjoying the nice weather.
My goal this winter is to have a weekly letter and number that we focus on and have activities that support it. I'd also like to make sure we do at least one art and science project every week, along with some kind of music and physical activity everyday. So here it goes...
Week 1: Jan. 28- Feb. 1
Letter: A
Number: 1
Letter Worksheets
I found some free letter worksheet printables at www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com. The idea is letter recognition and not learning how to write the letters, but these worksheets will do.
Letter Search
I saw this activity on Pinterest at http://tonsoffunpreschoolactivities.blogspot.com/2011/04/tot-school.html. I couldn't find a free printable there so I'll have to create my own. I'll have the letter A mixed in on the page with other letters. She can use her painting dots to mark all the letter A's on the page.
Apple Smiles
A is for apple, so we'll make some Apple Smiles for a snack one day. Again, found this idea on Pinterest at http://family.go.com/food/13-creepy-halloween-treats-pg/#Apple Smiles;8
Rain PaintingThis doesn't go along with the A theme but it's supposed to rain this week, so I thought this would be a good art project for the week. You put food coloring on cardstock paper and let the rain do the painting. I found this on Pinterest at http://littlepageturners.blogspot.com/2010/05/rainy-day.html.
Music
We'll sing the Apples and Bannanas song everyday and I'll see what other songs I can find that go along with the A theme.
Books
We'll read the book Ten Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss and Clifford the Big Red Dog: Picking Apples and Pumpkins (found this at Wee Ones consignment store for $1 and was able to use my credit. Free is always good!) I'll see what A themed books we can find at the library this week when we go to storytime.
Number 1
I have nothing planned for this except to point out the number 1 as we're out and about. I'll also print out the number and put it on her easel board along with the letter A worksheet I printed out.
That's all I have planned so far. We'll see how much of it I get done.
(P.S. Not sure if anyone is reading this? I don't have time to make these posts look pretty or double check my grammar and spelling, so sorry for any mistakes!)

THIS is Fantastic! So happy to see a blog post from you and you have some great idea's & links here! Love it! Have a great week! ~apryl
